Tattoo artist Tuta Tuheke showcases his work

Tuta TuhekeThe Tattoo and Body Art expo at Homebush this weekend will feature a demonstration of Tuheke’s tribal tattoos done in the Māori Polynesian traditional style.

The expo is in its fourth year and Tuta has showcased his work at the expo each year.  It is the most attended tattoo expo in Australia attracting talent from overseas as well as in Australia.

Tuta has been involved in the arts for the last 20 or so years, developing from a background in carving  and designing to eventually finding his specialty in the art of Ta Moko.  He came across Ta Moko from working on the carvings for marae projects.  Ta Moko and whakairo go hand in hand; one is an extension of the other.

Tuta is expecting to see a display of the emerging trends at the expo.

The expo runs from Friday to Sunday.

Mr Tuheke’s business Mokomania is run from a private studio at Dee Why by appointment only.
