Whale Rider star Keisha Castle-Hughes lands a US sci-fi role

Keisha Castle-Hughes was propelled to fame as Paikea "Pai" Apirana

OSCAR-nominated actress Keisha Castle-Hughes (who starred in NZ’s hit film – Whale Rider) has landed a role in a US sci-fi pilot.

Hughes, who stepped away from acting at 16 to have a child will star as Priya in the time-travel program Rewind.

Castle-Hughes will play a “behavioral anthropologist who provides analytical context to the project and the missions, and whose knowledge of history extends beyond the boundaries of fact”.

Now 22, Castle-Hughes gave birth to a daughter in 2007 and has since appeared in a numbe programmes including her latest NZ role in Almight Johnsons.
